What is the MOT (APK) and when is your car due?

The APK is the Dutch equivalent of the MOT: the legally required periodic inspection that checks whether your car is safe and environmentally sound. For most petrol cars the rule is: first inspection after four years, then every two years, and from the eighth year onwards every year. Diesel and LPG cars start after three years and are inspected annually. You can find the expiry date on your registration document, or ask us and we will check it for you.

Driving without a valid APK can lead to a fine from the RDW and problems with your insurance after damage. That is why we send you a free reminder one month before the expiry date, so you are never too late.

How the MOT works at Floragarage

• Book an appointment. Call, text or send the form. Often you can come by the same week.
• Inspection by a dedicated mechanic. We check brakes, tyres, lighting, steering, bodywork and environmental requirements according to the official RDW protocol.
• Honest feedback. If your car passes, we register it with the RDW immediately. If something needs repair, we discuss it first and tell you the costs upfront.
